ADVOCATE ILLINOIS MASONIC MEDICAL CENTER

Emergency Department Renovation
Client: Jensen & Halstead Architects

Working with the hospital’s architects, Klaucens & Associates, Inc. provided engineering services for renovations and additions to the existing Emergency Department.

The project was designed in multiple phases to keep the department in operation. K&A worked with Jensen & Halstead’s architects to establish precise phasing boundaries to allow HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems to be installed and commissioned for occupancy before going on to the next phase.

As with many of today’s projects, the budget was very tight and did not allow for new HVAC systems. K&A was given the challenge of designing modifications to boost capacities within the existing HVAC system.

Working as a team, this complicated project evolved over 18 months and has been recognized as one of the most successful renovations at Illinois Masonic Medical Center.
