This project was a total remodeling of a large printing plant into a regional maintenance facility for the Hertz Corporation, encompassing several building areas with various functions and individual design needs.
The car and bus maintenance areas required infrared heat, tailpipe (carbon monoxide) exhaust system, direct fired make-up air system and dispensing systems for oil and washer fluids. The car wash/fueling island required snow melting, infrared heat and gasoline storage and dispensing.
The vehicle storage area required exhaust and make-up air to be staged through multiple CO2 sensors. The general office and training areas required standard HVAC utilizing multiple roof-top units with duct coils for zone control and perimeter hot water baseboard heat.
The existing main electrical service was redesigned to feed the new architectural plans. A new energy efficient metal halide lighting system was photometrically designed to light the car storage areas and maintenance bays. New T-8 fluorescent lighting was used to light the office areas.
Klaucens & Associates, Inc. is also providing engineering services for Hertz at their Naperville rental facility and at O’Hare International Airport.
