This project included providing full MEP consulting engineering, design and construction administration services to the Owner and the Owner’s Architect for a complete free-standing library building on Chicago’s North Shore.

The MEP design parameters included specialized heating, air conditioning and humidity control systems for the general library and rare books room. A full fire protection system with the inclusion of a centralized fire pump capable of accommodating future sprinkler requirements for the existing building was also added.

Integrating the library building into the existing campus required K&A to redesign the college’s 4160 volt electrical distribution system, provide new electrical service to three existing buildings and design a fire loop system for water distribution to the campus.

State-of-the-art voice and data systems were designed to accommodate the college’s need for communication and computer systems. Lighting was also provided for the new roadway system and redesigned parking layout.
